It is written in the field use policy that in an effort to maintain optimum sport field conditions. The Snyderville Basin Recreation District will establish field rotation schedules and enforce periods of “rest” for field facilities. These decisions are based on the impact and utilization of fields.

We try to identify fields that are overused such as a soccer field that is used continually during the spring and fall. After all attempts at coring, seeding and other reestablishment practices have not produced acceptable turf cover, the field is closed for one year. Resting a field for a one-year period is important to allow enough grass to become mature. It will then tolerate traffic and absorb shock.

Please understand, we do not rest fields because we have an over abundance of fields therefore allowing us to remove one from play. Instead, we rest fields to allow us to continue to have quality fields for years to come and to prevent injuries.

With this type of a site-specific management program, we are able to provide safer and better quality fields. Safety, playability and aesthetics are all high priorities for the sports played on the fields in the Basin.
