pulling for native plants | dyer’s woad weed pull event

When: Thursday, July 20, 8:00AM - 11:00AM

Where: RTS Open Space Volunteers will meet at the Utah Olympic Park parking lot. (3419 Olympic Parkway)

Cost: Free

Woad you believe it? Dyer’s Woad has invaded the RTS Open Space, and we need your help to combat the spread!

Let’s work together to root out the noxious weed, Dyer’s Woad, and help preserve the native plant species at RTS! Noxious weeds are invasive species that can take over the vegetative landscape and compete with native plants, so it is important to remove them from our open spaces.

Volunteers will park and meet the Basin Recreation Open Space Crew at the Utah Olympic Park parking lot. As a group, we will head to the upper portion of the RTS Open Space and begin pulling out the invasive Dyer’s Woad! The noxious weed will be picked from the root and placed in a bag so no seed spreading occurs.

Bring closed-toed shoes, water, and gloves and join us in protecting the local biodiversity in an area you love to recreate.

No experience or noxious weed knowledge necessary.

Please email Kelly Fink at trailinfo@basinrecreation.org if you have any questions.
